Version 1.2.0 was submitted to the app store last night. Issues with iTunes Connect meant it couldn’t be submitted earlier, but there’s an off-chance it’ll be approved before I disappear to Fanfest.
One change that won’t be popular in this release is the dropping of support for iPhones and iPods with 2.x firmwares. This was a tough decision to make as the new features available in the 3.x SDK didn’t make the choice an automatic one, even if they generally make life more pleasant for both user and coder alike. In the end the lack of simulator support in Snow Leopard, along with the lack of personal devices with the old firmware to test on made the decision for me. If this change affects you then I apologise, but recommend you upgrade as the new firmware features are worth it in my opinion – fingers crossed the recent proposed changes to the US accounting rules mean that Apple can drop the ridiculous iPod update charge.
