1.3.0 – The fallout

The Good

You all seem to be liking it so far – thanks for all the useful feedback. Some people have commented on the practical use of the map, so I think it’s worth responding that:

  • It’s a spinny map. That bounces. That was justification enough for it to exist for me ;-)
  • All system and station info should be available without having to navigate via the map – if there’s something that’s missing then let me know and I’ll look into it.

The Bad

Initial start-up time on first launch with the new version is slow. This is a one-off hit whilst iClone upgrades existing data, mainly adding indexes to make a few of the data views much quicker to load, but can take a few minutes – sorry!

There’s also possibly an issue with API Key importing – I can’t reproduce it, but am investigating, so if you’re having issues then please use the contact form to give me details.

The Ugly

A few (minor) graphical glitches have sneaked in on iOS 4, which I’m fixing at the moment. Also, I seem to have gotten Ice fields and Asteroid Belts confused. D’oh.

Fin

I’m at the EVE BBQ next weekend, so no patch release before then to fix the above issues, but hopefully one not too long after – If you’re at the BBQ then that might be a good time for feature requests…

Keep the feedback coming, it all helps make iClone better!

Version 1.3.0 Submitted

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Version 1.3.0 has been submitted to the App Store for approval. Along with the bug fixes, the major changes are based around the new maps. Documentation will be updated after the update has been approved, but to summarise: one finger to pan, two to rotate, and pinch to zoom.

New in version 1.3.0:
- New Home screen
- Tyrannis data dump
- Universe and System maps
- System and Station information
- Ability to disable updates on a per-character basis

Fixed in version 1.3.0:
- Fixed crash when planning a jump from hi-sec
- Fixed POS fuel display
- Fixed crash when viewing ship blueprints and market order details with no Internet.
- Various other tweaks suggested by users.

Version 1.2.2 Submitted

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

This release primarily address account addition and wallet view interfaces, along with other miscellaneous tweaks. It’s currently uploading to Apple, and if recent trends continue should be available to download within the week.

New in version 1.2.2:
- Import character from EVE API pages, via clipboard.

Fixed in version 1.2.2:
- Fix for wallet viewing in non-UTC timezones.
- Fix for new account addition.
- Fix for incorrect account badge value.
- Fix market order progress bar
- More intelligent character portrait update.
- More intelligent filtering of market orders.
- More detail in market order list view.

Version 1.2.1 submitted

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Version 1.2.1 is currently uploading to Apple for review.

Here are the release notes:

New in version 1.2.1:
- Dominion static data dump.
- More detail in improved wallet transaction browser
- Caching of roles to reduce number of unsuccessful API calls

Fixed in version 1.2.1:
- Fix for duplicate corporate information in some tabs.
- Link to new support pages
- Improved performance of App when updating data in the background
- Improved ‘No Data’ messages
- Fixed resistances on ship information

There are a couple of potential outstanding issues with regard to industry job statuses sometimes displaying incorrectly – I’m still looking into these. Also, a few of you have reported adding accounts is behaving less smoothly than it ought – I’ll be trying to improve the documentation surrounding this area, especially with regard to syncing with Windows machines.

Version 1.2.0 Submitted

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Version 1.2.0 was submitted to the app store last night. Issues with iTunes Connect meant it couldn’t be submitted earlier, but there’s an off-chance it’ll be approved before I disappear to Fanfest.

One change that won’t be popular in this release is the dropping of support for iPhones and iPods with 2.x firmwares. This was a tough decision to make as the new features available in the 3.x SDK didn’t make the choice an automatic one, even if they generally make life more pleasant for both user and coder alike. In the end the lack of simulator support in Snow Leopard, along with the lack of personal devices with the old firmware to test on made the decision for me. If this change affects you then I apologise, but recommend you upgrade as the new firmware features are worth it in my opinion – fingers crossed the recent proposed changes to the US accounting rules mean that Apple can drop the ridiculous iPod update charge.

The release notes are:

New in version 1.2.0:

  • Apocrypha 1.5.0 static data dump.
  • New UI themes
  • Industry Jobs tab
  • Wallet Journal tab
  • Market Orders tab

Fixed in version 1.2.0:

  • Fix for account editing crash
  • Improved asset scrolling performance
  • Various stability fixes
